About Home Power Plant Guide

A small independent editorial team writing about plug-in solar, home batteries and backup power in Europe. Here is how the site is made, how it earns money, and what to do when we are wrong.

What we publish

Practical guides to plug-in and balcony solar, batteries and portable power stations, the rules for plug-in solar country by country, electricity tariffs and self-consumption, and a small explainer section on how power plants and the grid work. Everything appears in English and German.

This domain and its earlier use

Until 2018 the address eppsa.eu was used by a European trade association of power plant suppliers; the site was later archived and then parked. It was registered by our operator in 2026. We are not that association or its successor and have no connection to it, to its former members or to any organisation that continued its work. None of its old pages, documents or logos are published here.

How we work

  • Sources first. Laws and regulations, grid operators, standards bodies, regulators and manufacturers' own data sheets. Where we describe common practice rather than rules, we say so.
  • Dated facts. Plug-in solar rules are changing quickly in several countries. Country pages and prices carry the month they were checked.
  • Comparisons from data sheets. We compare panels, inverters, batteries and power stations on documented specifications: capacity, output, cell chemistry, warranty and price. We do not publish invented lab measurements, test periods or star ratings.
  • No electrical installation advice. We explain plug-in systems that are designed for ordinary sockets. Anything beyond that belongs with a qualified electrician and your grid operator.
  • Corrections. Substantiated errors get fixed. Significant changes are noted on the page.

How the site is funded

Home Power Plant Guide is a commercial publication. It is funded by advertising and by partner links to some of the shops and providers we mention. If you buy something after following a partner link, we may receive a commission; the price is the same for you either way. Partner links are marked.

No manufacturer or shop pays for a mention, a position or a verdict, and none of them sees an article before it is published. Where a cheaper or simpler option is the better choice, we say so, even when it earns us nothing.

Who writes this

The site is written and edited by a small team rather than by named individual authors, and we do not attach personal bylines or invented credentials to the pages. Editorial responsibility sits with the operator named in the imprint.
